Hi there! I am Victoria from Lovely! You may have seen our beauty and skincare products at a Pop Shop Houston market, or on our website. I want to tell you a little bit about our facial care products, the differences between our all natural clay masks, and how to know which one is best for your skin.
Facial skin varies widely from person to person. Everyone’s skin is a little bit different – whether you have dry, oily, congested, or a combination. Creating a beautifying routine that’s specifically for your skin is extremely important to do. Lovely has three clay masks – our Pink Clay, Green Clay, and Bentonite Clay masks.
The good news right off the bat is that every ingredient used is all natural. There are no unnatural preservatives, emulsifiers, artificial dyes, chemicals, synthetic ingredients, animal ingredients, parabens, or fillers are ever used in our products. Which is great news! Because you do not want to be putting that junk on your face! People are becoming more and more conscious of the ingredients and preservatives of the things that they eat and put IN their body. The thing is – we also need to be paying attention to the ingredients that we put ON our body. A general rule of thumb that I use is that if I can’t pronounce or don’t readily recognize the ingredient, it’s probably best to not use it on my skin.
I digress; so we have these three clay masks that sound pretty cool: all natural, good for your skin, made in small batches (not mass, commercially made). So, which one is best for my skin? Let’s see!
We call our PINK CLAY mask our “beautifying and softening” mask. The French pink clay and rosehip powder soothes irritated skin and promotes skin cell renewal, all while nourishing and polishing your pores. French pink clay very gentle and soothing clay, it aids in skin rejuvenation, and improving elasticity. Making it very good for mature skin, and puffy dark circles under the eyes. Rosehip powder is naturally rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants that regenerate skin cells and repair damaged tissue. Rosehip also helps in preventing premature aging. It exfoliates the skin in a mild but effective way, giving your skin a healthier and more radiant glow. This clay mask is good for all skin types and mature skin.
Our GREEN CLAY mask is our “gentle and soothing” mask. The French green clay combines with mild kaolin clay to revitalize and tone the complexion, all while tightening pores. French green clay is extremely rich in minerals, and is very cleansing. Its toning action stimulates the skin by bringing fresh blood to damaged skin cells, revitalizing the complexion, and tightening pores. There is also tea tree essential oil in our Green Clay mask which naturally kills bacteria and fungus. Tea tree oil helps to fight infections, protect your skin, and reduce allergic skin reactions. Furthermore, it can help neutralize or diminish scar marks. This clay mask is best for normal and sensitive skin types.
Our BENTONITE CLAY mask we call our “detoxifying and deep cleansing” mask. This mask is made through the collection of aged volcanic ash and activated charcoal to absorb impurities and heal the skin. Bentonite clay is high in iron content, and is the clay formed from volcanic ash. Once Bentonite becomes hydrated, its electrical and molecular components change causing it to swell and become like a sponge. This allows it to soak up bacteria and absorb impurities. Activated charcoal is tremendously absorbent and packed with antibacterial properties as well. Activated Charcoal is used to draw out impurities, heal your skin, and prevent further breakouts. It’s also known to tighten pores and smooth the skin, while reducing inflammation. The Ylang Ylang III essential oil in this mask is particularly effective in maintaining the right moisture and oil balance of the skin. Ylang Ylang oil keeps the skin looking hydrated, smooth, and young. This mask is good for oily and blemished skin types.
All our masks are in powder form allowing you to customize your mask to be used as a spot treatment or as a full facial. To use our masks, add a small amount of your choice clay (start with 1 tsp) to a bowl and slowly add a few drops of water, apple cider vinegar, yogurt, or Lovely’s facial toner, stirring to create a paste of the desired consistency. Leave on for about 10 minutes. It may not completely dry – but when you’re done rinse with warm water!
That’s it! The important thing to remember here is what I said in the beginning – facial skin varies from person to person. So, you’re going to have to be active in your skin care routine to determine what is best for you. Try different things: use apple cider vinegar to mix with your clay instead of water, test out a different mask by diluting it more with water and making a very thin mask (before you go all out with a thick one). I hope this helped! Have fun creating your mask!
