Ingredients

  • 1 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 cups Butter
  • 1/4 cup Molasses
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/4 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon Cayenne
  • Sugar (To Roll the Cookies in Before Baking)

Directions

1. In a large bowl, beat together the brown sugar, butter, molasses, egg, and vanilla extract.
2. Stir in baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, pepper, and cayenne. Then mix in the flour.
3. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
4. Preheat your oven to 375° and lightly grease your cookie sheet.
5. Shape dough into round balls and roll in granulated sugar. Then place on the cookie sheet.
6. Bake 9 - 12 minutes until edges are golden brown and the interior rises.
7. Cool before serving.
