Ingredients to Make a Spooky Halloween Funfetti Dip Recipe

My favorite thing about this recipe is that the ingredients are simple. All you need is cream cheese, milk, and whipped topping (like Cool Whip). All of these ingredients can be low fat or full fat depending on your tastes.

Plus you will need the Funfetti cake mix, cookies & fruit for dipping, and sprinkles in a million different colors and styles – especially bold and chunky sprinkles.

Where to Find the Cutest Halloween Sprinkles

To make this Spooky Halloween Funfetti Dip Recipe super special, you have to use a variety of cool sprinkles! You can find those at a craft supply store like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, at a cake supply store – sometimes even Sur La Table and my trusty go to – Amazon.

Make sure you get a variety of Halloween colors like black, orange, and purple. And make sure you get a variety of cool chunky shapes. I used eyes, pumpkins, skeletons, bats, spiders, and sprinkles that say Boo!

Why You Need to Heat Treat the Flour

Now this recipe is super simple, but whatever you do, don’t skip this step! Flour and cake mixes are not considered safe for consumption unless they are heated first. So since this is a no bake recipe, we need to follow these steps to heat treat the flour before we use it.

To heat treat flour, place it in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 30 second intervals. Then stir it and place it back in the microwave. The goal is to bring the temperature of the flour to 165°F. But since most of us won’t be using a thermometer, I would recommend heating the cake mix for 3 30 second intervals or 1 minute and 30 seconds total.

How Long to Mix the Halloween Funfetti Dessert Dip

While your cake batter is still warm from heat treating it, combine it with the whipped topping, cream cheese, and milk. Depending on how cold your other ingredients are, you may want to mix your your Funfetti dip with a whisk or just a rubber spatula.

Feel free to try both and see what works better. You only need to mix the dip until it’s thoroughly and completely blended. Once you have an even color and no lumps, it’s ready to decorate the Halloween Funfetti Dessert Dip!

To decorate, first transfer the dip to your serving dish. Then using your rubber spatula, smooth and shape the dip into a round, fluffy shape. Last, gently press the sprinkles into the surface of the dip starting with the largest sprinkles. Evenly space them around the entire surface of the dip. Then add smaller and smaller sprinkles until you have enough.
