We teach a lot of different craft and design workshops! They take place in many different locations and some are for kids while others are for adults and include lovely cocktails.
It’s grown into one of our most popular and favorite activities of Pop Shop America. We wanted to show you more because people ask about them often. So here is an easy guide to learn more about our workshops and to figure out which one is right for you.
Our workshops fall into several different categories: ones that take place at TX/RX Labs, (Usually) Free Workshops for Kids at Libraries and Schools, and Workshops that can Travel to your Birthday Party, Bridal Shower, or Office Team Building Event.
Monthly Workshops at TX/RX Labs Hackerspace
TX/RX Labs is a makerspace on the East Side of Downtown about 3 minutes away from BBVA Compass Stadium and Minute Maid Park. Our workshops at TX/RX are every first Friday of the month. The same nights as our workshops, and every Friday night, they host an open house. You can take a free tour of the building and just hang out and talk to some of the members. TX/RX Labs is a facility where members can get access to tools and equipment that would be too expensive and too cumbersome to have at home. There are 3D Printers, CNC Routers, there’s a spray room for powder coating, laser cutters, wood shop, metal shop, sewing machines, and pottery wheels.
But don’t let all this equipment intimidate you! The workshops we teach are beginner friendly. We don’t use any equipment that requires safety training. We teach things like DIY Candles, Gilded Animals, and Terrariums. In these workshops we see couples, groups of friends enjoying a Friday night together, and mom’s and daughters. We’ve hosted a lot of people that are there to celebrate engagements or birthday parties. It’s teenager friendly, guy friendly, cocktail friendly and all events are catered by Greenhouse Catering Co. We just snack, listen to music, and craft. You can find passes to the upcoming workshops here.
The finished goods are always impeccably stylish and beginners as well as regular makers will be pleased with the results. Want to see more results from these workshops? Take a look at DIY Candles here or DIY Bath Soaks here.
Workshops for Kids
These workshops are fun, lively and age appropriate. Kids workshops have an learning component and involve STEAM education. However, we’re careful to allow the learning to come naturally and keep the events creative and fun. We’ve taught everything under the sun and our favorite classes are shrinky dink jewelry, gastronomy experiments, handmade shadow puppets (the workshop shown in the video), and paint sample garlands.
Our teachers are great with kids and these workshops are fun for parents too. Parents or at least a few responsible adults should be present. Kids are welcome to work on their own or parents can help them and work together. We hope that the parents and teachers find these workshops just as fun as the kids. But don’t worry if you are a parent and just there to have a few minutes to relax to yourself. We understand!
These workshops are a whirl of fun. Since these workshops are hosted by libraries and schools we have to adhere to the rules of the host. They usually require an RSVP. Libraries require you to have your library card. For schools, you often have to be a student or friend of the school. We’re happy to answer any questions about eligibility or you can find these workshops listed on our calendar of events here.
These are workshops that travel to you. Any event such as a kid’s birthday party, bridal shower, or office team building function is a great occasion to host a craft workshop. We teach a lot of different classes and you are welcome to pick your favorite topic like leather earrings, hula hoop building, or concrete vases and planters. If you have a party or a wedding on the horizon we could even help you create party favors like confetti pops & confetti balloons or flower crowns for bridesmaids. We can also design a new program just for you! The fee per person is variable depending on the cost of the materials that we use in the workshop and we offer non-profit educational discounts. The rate per person is only around $15-$20. We are happy to keep affordable.
We love making these workshops as special as possible. If the party is for adults we can bring wine spritzers and macarons. If the party is for kids we can bring cookies and goodie bags full of handmade items.
All you need to do to set one up is select a date and location and browse the selection of workshops here. Or you can email us at any time to get a custom quote. We’ll ask you how many people you will be hosting at the party and work from there. We’re happy to help you find the workshop that’s right for the occasion or help you find one that is right for your budget.

The workshops look so fun. It’s something I’d love to try myself.
Looks like a great way to bring people together for a creative endeavor… Loved the items you all made. 🙂
